Location: Gloucester – Hybrid (up to 2 days per week working from home)
Hours: Full Time | Fixed Term Contract (up to 12 months)
Salary: c.£33,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Job Description
We are recruiting an Academic Operations Manager (maternity cover) to coordinate and administer accredited postgraduate certificate programmes within a Continuing Education team. The successful candidate will manage day-to-day academic operations, ensure programme compliance, and lead a small administrative team.
Key Responsibilities of an Academic Operations Manager

Coordinate and administer postgraduate certificate programmes.

Line-manage a small team of administrative staff, providing guidance and support.

Oversee course schedules, student records, assessments and reporting.

Ensure compliance with accreditation and internal quality processes.

Improve systems and workflows to enhance programme delivery.

Liaise with academic staff, students and external partners to support smooth operations.

Produce accurate data and reports to support departmental planning.
Key Skills of an Academic Operations Manager

Experience administering education, training or professional development courses and events.

Ability to manage multiple complex tasks and prioritise effectively.

Line-management experience with confidence in delegation and staff support.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong project management and organisational abilities.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and CRM or student-record systems.

Customer-focused approach with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
Desirable Skills

Experience making commercial decisions and solving problems independently.

Experience managing budgets and monitoring departmental expenditure.

Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS).

Knowledge of online education best practice or the professional education sector.
